I Wanted to Confront the Students
My first instinct was anger.
I wanted to find the students responsible.
I wanted to demand answers.
I wanted them to understand how frightened my sister had become.
But anger alone wouldn’t solve the problem.
Confronting children directly could potentially make things worse.
So instead of going to the students, I went to the adults responsible for maintaining the school’s safety.
That decision changed everything.
Speaking With the School
The next morning, I contacted the school.
I explained what had happened.
I didn’t exaggerate.
I didn’t accuse anyone without evidence.
I simply described the incidents, my sister’s behavior, and what she had told us.
I asked whether the school had noticed anything unusual.
At first, the response was cautious.
The staff explained that they couldn’t discuss another student’s information with us.
That was understandable.
But they could investigate what had happened to my sister.
