This is an important
distinction.
Salt may have antimicrobial properties under certain conditions and concentrations, but sprinkling ordinary table salt into a toilet bowl should not be considered a reliable method of disinfecting the toilet.
If disinfection is your goal, use a product specifically labeled for that purpose and follow the instructions carefully.
When a Toilet Problem Needs a Plumber
Sometimes the best household tip is knowing when to stop trying household tips.
Call a plumber or have the plumbing professionally evaluated if you notice:
Repeated clogs
Water backing up into the bowl
Very
slow flushing
Gurgling sounds from the toilet or drains
Sewage odors that persist after cleaning
Water leaking around the base
A toilet that rocks or shifts
Multiple drains backing up at the same time
A toilet that repeatedly overflows
Those problems aren’t signs that your toilet needs more salt.
They may indicate a plumbing or drainage issue that requires proper diagnosis.
