My MIL Let Herself Into Our House While I Slept with My Newborn – Then I Heard Her Say, ‘She Can Never Know’

Then I recognized his mother’s voice.

I sat on the edge of the bed and listened.

“What happens when she goes back to work?” his mother asked.

“We’ll work something out,” Caleb replied.

“You told me you were going to handle this.”

“Mom, keep your voice down. Jess is asleep.”

There was a pause.

Then his mother said quietly:

“She can never know.”

That was enough for me.

I got up and went downstairs.

The instant I walked into the kitchen, both of them stopped talking.

Caleb looked startled.

His mother recovered quickly.

I folded my arms.

“What exactly can I never know?”

Neither of them answered.

Caleb stared at me.

His mother finally sighed.

“I came over because we need to talk about the baby.”

“While I was sleeping? With my husband?”

“You’re going to need help once you return to work.”

I knew immediately where this was headed.
