“I know.”
“If we ever try again, it has to be different.”
He looked at her.
“Are you saying you want to try?”
Lucía smiled slightly.
“I’m saying you can ask me to dinner.”
His eyes filled.
“Lucía Montero.”
“Would you have dinner with me?”
“Not Montero.”
He blinked.
She continued.
“I changed my name back.”
“Lucía Herrera.”
Alejandro smiled.
“Lucía Herrera.”
“Would you have dinner with me?”
“Yes.”
“One dinner.”
“One.”
“No rooftop photographers.”
“No photographers.”
“No private jet.”
“I wasn’t going to—”
“You were thinking it.”
He laughed.
“Maybe.”
“Restaurant?”
“Yes.”
“Normal restaurant.”
“I don’t know what that means.”
“I know.”
“I’ll choose.”
They went to dinner.
Then another.
Then another.
Six months later, Lucía and Isabela spent a weekend at Alejandro’s
house.
Months after that, Lucía moved into a home they chose together.
Not the old mansion.
