I hung up.
By 8:10 AM, Daniel and Chloe still hadn’t boarded a plane. And by then, my corporate attorneys and federal fraud investigators were already walking into the airport terminal.
PART 3
I didn’t go to the airport. For years, Daniel had managed to turn every marital disagreement into a dramatic public scene, and I had no intention of giving him an audience today.
I let the legal teams, compliance officers, and forensic investigators handle it. The documentation spoke for itself: unauthorized transfers, halted wires, personal expenses billed to Sterling Global, fraudulent invoices issued by Chloe’s firm, stolen corporate devices, and recorded conversations detailing their plan to flee the jurisdiction.
And, of course, that airport selfie, Daniel smirking beside Chloe, a stolen replica wrapped around her wrist, accompanied by his own text message: “When you wake up, you’ll realize you have nothing left.”
At 10:00 AM, his defense attorney called me. “Daniel would like to resolve this matter discreetly, Mrs. Sterling.”
