Diane demanded that every penny be donated to Ethan's memorial fund. She then severed all ties with her sister, preferring the truth to a false semblance of family peace. The following Sunday, she returned to the cemetery with the dog—renamed Watcher—walking freely by her side. She read the letters aloud, and for the first time in two years, she truly felt her son's presence with her.
