A courageous woman, torn from her roots to build her future
Under the uniform was a real destiny. That of a woman who, at a very young age, had left her native countryside — like so many of her contemporaries — to look for a job in the city. At the time, domestic service was one of the few gateways to financial independence, even if modest.
His mornings started before dawn. Meals to cook, fireplace to keep, children to accompany in their days. A dense and demanding daily life, which left very little room for herself. And yet, deep inside her, lived a secret ambition: to build her own existence, on her own terms.
