My husband invited his boss over for dinner without asking me — halfway through the meal, his boss looked at me and said, "Wait... you don't know yet

And somehow always a little too close to my husband whenever I saw them together at work events.
Nathan was acting strange that night.
He kept looking at his phone and hardly ate anything.
Halfway through the meal, Mr. Bennett lifted his glass.
"Well, I suppose we should celebrate."
"Celebrate what?"
His expression changed.
He looked toward Nathan.
"So you haven't told her yet?"
Nathan set his fork down immediately.
"Not tonight."
My stomach dropped.
"Told me what?"
"I thought the two of you had already talked about it," Mr. Bennett said.
Nathan let out a breath.
"I was going to tell you."
Mr. Bennett cleared his throat.
"Nathan will be working in Seattle for the next few months."
I stared across the table.
"You're going where?"
"It's temporary. Three months. Maybe four."
