She returned to her seat without another word. Ryan looked completely defeated when she sat down. For the rest of the flight, the two of them barely spoke. I continued serving passengers, checking the cabin, and doing my job. But inside, I knew this wasn't just about catching my husband with another woman anymore.
When we finally landed in Cancun, the passengers applauded as the aircraft reached the gate. Ryan stood immediately, grabbing his carry-on. Ashley remained seated. He looked at me as he walked toward the door, almost expecting me to stop him. Instead, I stepped aside and smiled politely.
“Thank you for flying with us, Mr. Carter.”
His face went pale again.
Then Ashley walked toward the exit alone. Before stepping off the aircraft, she turned back toward Ryan and said quietly, “You lied to both of us.” Ryan didn't answer. He simply watched her disappear into the terminal.
I thought that was the end of it.
But twenty minutes later, while I was preparing for my return flight, my phone received a message from an unknown number.
It contained a photograph.
A photograph of Ryan entering a hotel in Dallas three months earlier.
And beneath it were five words that changed everything:
**“Valerie, you deserve to know.”**
