My Husband And His Family Abandoned Me In Thailand Without My Passport Or Phone—But They Had No Idea What My Secret Emergency Code Could Trigger

Chapter 3: The Missing Money

Ellen managed to pull the transaction details before the temporary access expired.

Martin called again.

“We have the destination account.”

My grip tightened around the phone.

“Whose?”

“Not Greg’s.”

My stomach dropped.

“Then whose?”

“An account registered to a company called Bennett Property Holdings.”

I closed my eyes.

I knew that name.

Greg had mentioned it once, months earlier, when discussing Ashley’s townhouse.

I had assumed it was a company connected to one of his investments.

“Martin, what exactly is Bennett Property Holdings?”

“I’m still checking.”

A pause.

“Clare, the company was incorporated less than six months ago.”

“By whom?”

Another pause.

“Greg.”

The room seemed to tilt.

The $82,000 wasn’t a random withdrawal.

It had been moved deliberately.

I thought about Ashley’s $410,000 townhouse.

The arguments.

The pressure.

Diane insisting that family came first.

Greg telling me I was selfish for refusing to sacrifice our savings.

Suddenly, the pieces began aligning.

“He was going to use our money for Ashley’s house.”

“I believe so,” Martin said. “But there’s something else.”

“What?”

“The account has another authorized party.”

“Who?”

“Diane.”

I said nothing.

Martin continued.

“And the transfer wasn’t the only one.”

My fingers went cold.
