My brother arrived at our father’s funeral wearing a bright red suit, and I was immediately upset. Every other man in the chapel wore black, charcoal, or dark gray. Then Eric walked in.

And behind that door was a small concealed closet.

Inside were three garment bags.

Two held ordinary dark suits.

The third contained the bright red suit Eric was now wearing.

But that wasn’t the part that made Mr. Lawson react.

Pinned to the outside of the garment bag was a handwritten note.

It had one name on it.

Eric.

The moment my brother said that, Mr. Lawson’s face changed.

“Did you check the pockets?”

Eric shook his head.
