The unexpected wisdom of two young adults
Léo and Hugo's response said a lot. No outburst of voice, no moving scene. They listened calmly, then responded with a maturity that threw everyone off balance.
They harbored no hatred. But they also had no intention of pretending that nothing had happened. Family ties, as their father had demonstrated to them without ever explicitly teaching it, are not based solely on blood. They are woven thanks to the daily presence, in every moment shared.
Camille left as she had arrived. Alone. Without the hoped-for help, without the reunion she had perhaps imagined.
And Léo and Hugo went to collect their diploma alongside the man who never disappeared.
Some fathers don't need a cape to be heroes — their presence is enough for everything.
